What is Ashirai?

Ashirai is a term used in the traditional art of Japanese flower arranging, called ikebana. It refers to supplemental components of floral materials that enhance the main elements of an arrangement. Ashirai plays an important role in adding balance and fullness as well as bringing harmony to complete the art of ikebana.
